Chrysler is an American brand, through and through, and its most recent recommitment to the good old U.S. of A. includes a hefty investment of more time and resources into its stateside production facilities. This time around, the automaker is focusing its attention on the high-quality engines that you'll find powering the new Chrysler models that we have for sale here at Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Santa Fe.
The brand is investing more than $53 million dollars in two Michigan plants that share the task of assembling the TigerShark engine that can be found on the Dart. One of the factories will build the heads, cranks, and blocks for the powerhouse, and the other will be responsible for bringing all of the parts together and building the actual engine.
In addition, this investment should create almost 300 new jobs for the region. This is all happening rather quickly, too, as the plan is for the whole operation to be up and running by the end of September.
One of these facilities, the Trenton North plant, also makes the Pentastar V6 engine, in addition to the aforementioned TigerShark.
