Smart Ways to Avoid Distracted Driving

The dangers of distracted driving are something we all should be familiar with by now. If you still find yourself driving while distracted, here are a few things you can do to help:

  • If you're tempted to look at your phone just turn it completely off. That way you can't hear notifications from your phone. If that still isn't enough, put it in your glove compartment so that it's out of reach.
  • Before heading out make sure you know where the important things are that you may need. Get toll money ready, set up your GPS, and put drinks in the cup holder.
  • Let your passengers help you. Your passengers can help you with directions and answer calls or text messages for you so that your attention can remain on the road.
  • Use your drive time to relax. It may be difficult to calm down and relax while driving, especially if you're driving in heavy traffic, but this is a good time to collect your thoughts and focus on the road.
