For this week's Throwback Thursday, we're going all the way back to 1959 to take a look at the Chrysler 300E, courtesy of the nice folks of the @Chrysler Twitter crew.

The Chrysler 300E was the fifth iteration of the 300 letter series that spanned a decade from 1955 to 1965. Each vehicle in the series featured a standard engine that produced at least 300 horsepower. For this reason, among others, it is considered an ancestor to contemporary muscle cars. The 300E was released in 1959 and the original Hemi V-8 was replaced with Chrysler's new Golden Lion V-8, a 6.8-liter engine that produced 380 horsepower.
